Sophie Boston

Sophie is the South Australian State Representative for NAAUC in 2024. She recently completed her Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science at the University of South Australia, and is now pursuing Sport Analytics online at the University of Canberra. Sophie is entering her fourth year at Lincoln College, where she was Sports Secretary in 2022, and President of the College Club in 2023.

She has a strong passion for making people fall in love with college, and hopes to use her experiences to invoke a positive change among the culture and communities within colleges. She is excited to work with the colleges in South Australia, to foster stronger relationships, and form deeper bonds between all five residences.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA STATE VISION

  • Enhancing Established Connection

NAAUC HAS A LONG STANDING RELATIONSHIP WITH THE ADELAIDE COLLEGES, HAVING SEEN 5 OF THE 6 IN ATTENDANCE AT OUR 2023 NATIONAL CONFERENCE.

NAAUC is committed to fostering and enriching this bond, and digging deeper to understand each college on a personal level. We aim to amplify collaboration, and provide our South Australian colleges with all NAAUC can give and more.

  • Making NAAUC known across the Colleges

NAAUC AIMS TO AMPLIFY ITS VISIBILITY AND IMPACT ON BROADER RESIDENTIAL LIFE.

This runs deeper than those student leaders at the forefront of Colleges, but showing all residents the dynamic and indispensable resource NAAUC is, and how valued they are across the nation. We will focus on outreach strategies, to make NAAUC a household name in residential communities across South Australia

  • Working towards a more cohesive intercollege community

NAAUC IS DEDICATED TO FOSTERING STRONGER BONDS AND COLLABORATION AMONG RESIDENTIAL COMMUNITIES IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA.

We see a future where colleges transcend individual identities to form a unified and interconnected community, driven by shared values, goals and experiences. NAAUC will promote collaboration, and facilitate spaces, where college leaders can come together to share ideas and conversations to foster a stronger intercollege community.

ABOUT NAAUC

ABOUT NAAUC

National Conference 2024

25th November - 1st December

The University of Sydney & Macquarie University

NAAUC National Conference creates a space where students from across Australia come together to discuss their residential experience and share their ideas about how it may be improved. With a range of academic seminars, workshops, panel discussions and keynote speakers, the conference empowers delegates, spur passion for leadership, and engage the diverse perspectives of students from residential communities across Australia.

The conference also provides unique social activities each day to allow delegates the opportunity to mingle, relax, network with their peers, and even get new ideas for events at their college.

South Australia NAAUC History

South Australia and NAAUC have a long history of connection, being a consistent and valued member of NAAUC’s national events.

South Australia’s state based inter-college committee, SAAUCC, is an offshoot of NAAUC, and in the past the two have operated as official partners.

NAAUC is not just connected with the four North Adelaide Colleges, but also has a strong history with Flinders University Hall and with Roseworthy Residential Services, and other university accommodation providers across the state.

South Australian Colleges have offered strong and committed individuals to the NAAUC team, with a succession of passionate state representatives over the last ten years coming from each of South Australia’s Colleges. In 2022, NAAUC’s President was a South Australian, hailing from Lincoln College.

South Australia has not hosted a National Conference for some time, the last one being held at St Mark's College in 1988. Were it not for Covid-19, 2020 would have seen the return of the National Conference to Adelaide, with plans to host at St Anns College and Lincoln College unfortunately becoming unviable. Despite this challenge, NAAUC held a successful state summit in South Australia in 2022.
