Professional Development Seminars
“It is fantastic to have real college students teaching us about real college issues”
- Incoming Committee Member, Edwards Hall
In 41 years NAAUC has been able to accumulate a wealth of knowledge from committees all over the country. This is knowledge that we want to share with you. From October 08 through to July 2009, our experienced team of Michael Douglas and Nigel Clifford has been booked to work with over 40 colleges from five states and a territory presenting seminars on a variety of college issues.
IS YOUR COLLEGE ONE OF THEM?
With College Committees only serving on an annual basis often the ideas, enthusiasm and professionalism can be lost from year to year. With a NAAUC PDS this can be combated and makes sure your committee has the best start to the college year.
A crucial part of the NAAUC PDS Program is to tailor our material to suit your needs and because of this we are not restrictive in the different combinations of PDS’ that we present on. What follows is a list of the topics that we have run sessions on recently;
Event and Risk Management
College Legalities
Publications and Advertising
Socialising without Alcohol
Integration of all collegians
Operating professionally as a committee
O-week Planning and Structure
Student Committee Strategic Planning Session
Giving Value for Membership
Changes in College
Environment and Social Justice
Effective Changeover
Conflict Resolution and Negotiation
Mental Health Issues
Sponsorship and Fundraising
Traditions and College Spirit
Individual Role Development
This is by no means a comprehensive list of all the knowledge that NAAUC has accumulated over the years. If your college has an issue that is not on this list, through our network of alumni we can find someone who has faced the same situation that you are in and we would be more than happy to pass on this knowledge to meet your colleges specific needs.
