Who Funds NAAUC?
The Association has very limited resources. It relies completely on the membership subscriptions to finance its operations; membership varies from year to year and therefore the income it generates is unpredictable. Moreover, there are some colleges and halls that don't pay their subscriptions until very late in the year, therefore the Association has sometimes found itself holding money at the end of the year which would have been very useful six months earlier.
The main expenses of the Association are of a very mundane nature. Printing, postage and telephone calls take up a fairly large part of the budget. Given that the Executive members often come from across Australia, this means that the need to meet at least once a year, involves some expenditure on both travel and accommodation. The financial position of the Association is gradually improving after a severe setback in the late seventies - hopefully this improvement will continue for the next quarter of a century and beyond.
What Does NAAUC Do?
Through our annual conference, consistent newsletters throughout the year, your feedback and emails, we are able to advise and assist colleges (generically and individually) and more so, college student clubs and committees, to improve the life of residents of college halls and residences.
In its recent history, the Association has become more than just a conference, providing year-round support to its members.
Why Should I Be Involved?
Not only do you receive a plethora of information regarding colleges and what they have to offer, but your college gains a wealth of knowledge through experiences shared from other student clubs.
